Inverness Rocpool

Rocpool opens in Inverness on the former site of Bar One+One tomorrow (22 March). The 50-seat restaurant will serve modern European cuisine and tapas. Head chef is Steven Devlin, who is an equal partner in the business. Owners Adrian and Susan Pieraccini also run the Glenmoriston Town House and Ristorante La Riviera in Inverness.

Double Duck's

Duck's de la Gare, a 20-seat sandwich and coffee shop, has opened in Edinburgh. The shop, next to Waverley railway station, was formerly the Balmoral hotel's personnel office. It serves soups, sushi, and gingerbread and muffins baked at owner Malcolm Duck's restaurant, Duck's at Le Marché Noir.

Luton express

A 110-bedroom Express by Holiday Inn hotel opens at London-Luton Airport next week. All rooms have air conditioning and modem points. Franchisee BDL Hotels has invested £4.5m in the newly built property, which it will also operate. Neil Taylor is the general manager.

Wagamama makes 15

Wagamama opens its 15th Japanese-style restaurant in the City of London next week (25 March). The 159-seat restaurant will also operate a take-away service. The latest branch is managed by Dinah Meister.

SAS for Leeds

A new Radisson SAS hotel opens in Leeds on 8 May. The 147-bedroom property is inside the Light, a new £100m leisure and shopping centre. The Leeds hotel will be the group's fourth in the UK after London, Manchester and Airth in Stirlingshire.
