Sands at St Andrews
Sands, an 80-seat bar and restaurant specialising in seafood, opens on 18 April on the ground floor of the Old Course hotel, golf resort and spa in St Andrews, Fife. Head chef is Stuart Muir. The restaurant was previously a brasserie, before the area was re-decorated. Absinthe is included in the new bar's menu.
Knightsbridge's Zuma
Zuma is due to open in Knightsbridge, London, on 14 May. The restaurant, which will serve grilled fish, sushi, and 30 varieties of sake, has room for 135 people, and includes a 26-seat private dining room. Head sushi chef Takemura-san was previously at Nobu, also in London. Formerly the Chicago Rib Shack restaurant, the site has undergone a £1.5m refurbishment.
Modern Italian
Timo has opened in Kensington, London. The 50-seat restaurant, serving modern Italian cuisine, is owned by the A-Z group. Valerio Daros, formerly at the group's La Spighetta restaurant, is the head chef. A three-course meal costs £19.50. A-Z plans to open Prezzemelo, another Italian restaurant, in Parsons Green in September.
Crowne for Marlow
A Crowne Plaza hotel will be opening this November in Marlow-on-Thames, Buckinghamshire. Franchisee Mango Hotels has invested a total of £20m in the 168-bedroom, newly built property. Mango will also manage the hotel, which includes 13 conference rooms.
