Another Alias

The Alias Hotels group is to open its fourth property, the 61-bedroom Rossetti hotel in Manchester, on 14 October. It will include a café and a 26-seat fine-dining room. Paul Mitchell will be general manager.

Gate swings open

The Gate pub opens in Gloucester today (29 August), following a £650,000 refurbishment by its owner, the Barracuda Group. The pub was formerly a Laurel Inns house called King's. It will be managed by Katrina Nixon and will employ 15 staff. It is one of the group's 40 Smith & Jones branded pubs.

Wearing a Thai

The Pollo Pizza Grill has opened in Warwick. The 140-seat restaurant serves Thai-style food as well as chicken and pizza dishes, prepared under head chef Paul Worthy. The restaurant is owned by Pizza Piazza.

Yo! Northerners

Yo! Sushi is to open its first restaurant in the North of England at Manchester's Selfridges store on 6 September. The 1,200sq ft site will have a 24m-long conveyor belt and will seat 45 people. A total of 30 Yo! Sushi restaurants are expected to have been opened in Britain by the end of 2004.

Crowne Plaza is opening a 168-bedroom hotel in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, in November. The hotel will be able to accommodate 400 conference delegates. It will also have a banqueting room for 300 guests. Rates for a standard double bedroom with breakfast will start at £165.
