4550 Miles nearer

4550 Miles from Delhi opens in Nottingham on 31 October. The 400sq m site, formerly the Hearty Goodfellow pub, has undergone a six-month refurbishment and will reopen as a 130-seat restaurant. Leicester restaurateur Danny Punia is the owner.

Big Blue thinks big

The Big Blue hotel is due to open in Blackpool in spring 2003. The 118-bedroom property is inside the resort's Pleasure Beach amusement park. The hotel will have rooms up to seven square metres larger than the industry standard in order to accommodate up to five family members or hold executive meetings.

Wagamama out West

Wagamama has opened in Bristol. The 136-seat Japanese-style restaurant is in the Clifton area of the city on the site of a former post office. Sarah Plunkett is the manager. The 20th Wagamama will open on 25 November in Islington, London.

New Alias

Hotel Rossetti, the latest addition to the Alias group, opened in Manchester on Monday (14 October). The 61-bedroom hotel has been converted over two-and-a-half years at a cost of £4m. Paul Mitchell, a former regional manager for fashion house DKNY, will manage 60 staff. The hotel includes a caf‚ off the lobby and a nightclub in the basement. Alias owns and operates Hotel Kadinsky in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Hotel Barcelona in Exeter, Devon, and Hotel Westbourne in London. Two further hotels are due to open in Brighton and Liverpool next year.
