Extension complete
Lochgreen House hotel in Troon, Ayrshire, has completed a £2.6m extension, adding a lounge and 25 bedrooms, bringing the total up to 40 bedrooms. A new 50-seat brasserie also opened last week. Executive chef Andrew Costley has created a menu that includes breaded pigs' trotters, pork and Roquefort sausages.
New training centre
The Training School, a new training centre for bar and pub employees, opened on Monday (4 November) in a converted tobacco warehouse next to the ExCel exhibition centre in London's Docklands. The school includes a pub, cocktail bar, cellar and exam room for training. Courses include cocktail-mixing, finance, coffee-making and machine-maintenance.
Rodeo bar opens
Coyote Wild, an 800-capacity Rodeo-themed bar opened last week in South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Owner Ultimate Leisure renovated the freehold site, formerly the Venue bar, at a cost of £1.5m over four months. Faye McAulay manages 40 employees.
Ribbeting news
Toad at the Glassworks, an Eldridge Pope bar, opens in Stourbridge, Worcestershire, tomorrow (8 November). The £1m bar has been converted from the former BeWise supermarket, and Rob Collett will manage 25 staff.
Hard Rock for Leeds
Hard Rock Café opens in Leeds on 2 December. The newly built 100-seat café-bar is part of the new Cube development on Albion Street. Andrew Sugden is the general manager.
