The BBC reported last week that ITV is set to replaceÊGordon Ramsay for Hell's Kitchen 2. which chef would best fit the bill?
I think Gordon Ramsay was fantastic and very inspirational. We learnt a lot from watching him. But it wouldn't harm to put a woman in there - like Valentina Harris, or someone like Sophie Grigson - who would still pack a punch but would inspire in a different way. I don't think it would work putting Delia in there, though.
Lucy Herring, Cordon bleu chef of the Red Lion hotel in Redbourne, Lincolnshire
Whoever does it needs to be a great teacher with a high level of patience, so I think it should be John Wood, who was executive chef at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and is now at Sainsbury's. He has a high level of skill, has had a Michelin star and is the most patient chef I have ever worked with. He's a real people person, too, which you would need to be.
Simon Young, executive head chef at the Carlton Tower hotel
Heston Blumenthal. Bring the science lab into the kitchen. We get to hear a lot about him but not many of us get to dine in his restaurant.
Nick Gabaldon, sous chef at contract caterer Baxter & Platts
