Michael Wood has joined Thistle Hotels' new London conference centre, One Whitehall Place, as conference and banqueting manager. He comes from the Brighton Metropole hotel.

Robbie Bishop is the new director of sales and marketing at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, Fife. He joins from London's Hyde Park Hotel.

Joanne Byron has been promoted to general manager at The Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye, Gloucestershire. Previous joint general managers John and Anne Lewis have left to run the Mill Race pub, Walford, Herefordshire.

Russell Bodycomb is to manage the 100 conference rooms and 2,000 bedrooms at the University of Kent at Canterbury as the new conference and tourism manager of its UKC Hospitality division. He joins from London's Cumberland Hotel.

Thistle's Mount Royal Hotel in London has taken on Duncan Pitfield as food and beverage manager. He was regional food and beverage manager at the City Club of Tokyo.

Vivien Bolland has moved into the role of catering consultant for Rutland Foodservice Consultancy. She was assistant area manager at Sutcliffe Catering.

Michael Bell becomes director of sales at the Metropolitan Beach Resort, Dubai, UAE, on 1 July. He is currently sales manager at the 84-bedroom Stakis Puckrup Hall Hotel in Tewkesbury.an
