Head chef ALEC SUMMERS has transferred from the Inverness Thistle hotel to the 145-bedroom King James Thistle in Edinburgh.

DAVID GIBBONS is the new conference and banqueting

manager at the May Fair Inter-Continental London hotel. He had the same job at the Tower Thistle hotel.

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels has appointed DAVID CURTIS-BRIGNELL to the new role of director of leisure and group products. He joins from tour operator Individual Travellers Company, where he was managing and marketing director.

KEVIN KERLEY has become general manager at Tankersley Manor Hotel in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where a new conference centre and 30 extra bedrooms open on May Day after a £2.2m investment. Kerley was operations manager at the Hanover International Hotel and Club in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Ghanaian NANA AKUFFO is the new chef at Cliveden's Terrace dining room. He was executive sous chef at the Savoy's River restaurant, where he worked alongside Anton Edelman.

Fuller's has recruited two new area managers. ALEX HAYTER, formerly area manager, south-east, for Greenalls Pubs & Restaurants, takes on Fuller's rural English Inns brand, while KEITH YATES, who was senior manager of Yates Wine Lodges' Reading branch, handles high street pubs. c
