Martin Holze is the new general manager of the four-star, 880-bedroom Park Inn Heathrow in London. He moves from the 1,006-bedroom Park Inn Berlin Alexanderplatz hotel, where he had been the general manager since January 2003.

Powell

Stephen Powell has been promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa at InterContinental Hotels Group. He moves up from his post as vice president of sales for UK and Ireland, which he held since joining the company in December 2003.

The four-star, 112-bedroom Macdonald Burlington hotel in Birmingham has appointed Robert Elliot as its new director of hotel sales. He joins the company from the four-star, 329-bedroom De Vere Belfry hotel in Warwickshire where he was sales development manager.

The five-star, 48-bedroom Capital hotel in Knightsbridge, London, has appointed Alexandra Bew as its new sales director. She joins the property from Marriott Hotels where she was an account executive. Peter Llewellyn is the new general manager at the Grey Street hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne. The 49-bedroom Niche Hotels property is due to open on 4 December 2004. He moves from the 59-bedroom Lumley Castle hotel in County Durham, where he was operations manager. Niche Hotels has appointed Derek Gemmell-Brown as its new national human resources manager. He joins the company from Northgate HR, where he was a senior HR account manager. Rhys McKinnell has been promoted to general manager of the four-star, 53-bedroom Maften Hall hotel near Newcastle upon Tyne. After joining the hotel three years ago as food & beverage manager, he now steps up from his position as deputy general manager. Mark Grindrod is the new general manager of the six-bedroom Cottage hotel in Brockenhurst, Hampshire. He joins the property from the two-star, 14-bedroom Forest Lodge hotel in nearby Lyndhurst. ### Restaurants The Brixton Bar & Grill has appointed Iqbal Hussein as its new head chef. He moves from the Empire restaurant in Lamb's Conduit street, London, where he was chef and owner. ### Contract catering

Jayne Slater has been appointed regional operations manager at ESS Support Services Worldwide for its Royal Air Force business in the north of England and Scotland. She moves to the defence catering and hotel support services company from Little Chef, where she was general manager. Party design and contract catering company The Admirable Crichton has appointed Giles Thompson as its executive culinary co-ordinator. He joins the company from Le Cordon Bleu, where he was head executive chef. Contract caterer Holroyd Howe has appointed Sue Williams as its new training manager. She moves from independent pub company Wizard Inns, where she was a training manager.
