Edinburgh's five-star, 188-bedroom Balmoral hotel has a new general manager. Debbie Taylor, previously general manager of the St David's Hotel & Spa in Cardiff, is the first female to take on the role in the hotel's 101-year history.

Lisa Kay, guest services manager at the Express by Holiday Inn Gloucester South, has become the 106-bedoom hotel's deputy general manager.

Romano Campione has joined London's 508-bedroom Meliá White House Regents Park as director of sales and marketing. He leaves his role as director of sales at the Hilton London Olympia.

Campanile UK, part of French hotel company Groupe Envergure, has welcomed Douglas Whitaker to the newly created role of sales director. Douglas is no stranger to Campanile, having worked for two years in the group's head office in Paris as international sales manager.

Sol Meliá's Paradisus Puerto Rico hotel, a 500-bedroom property due to open in February, has announced several management appointments. Joining as managing director is Jose Carrasco, who was previously managing director of the Hotel Meliá Caribe Tropical in the Dominican Republic. Carlos Del Pino has taken on the role of director of operations. Carlos has more than nine years' experience in hospitality and has previously been general manager of the Allure Mayan Riviera & Spa at Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Paradisus Puerto Rico's new director of sales and marketing is Ramon Sanchez. Prior to his appointment Ramon was deputy executive director of marketing and promotions at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. Ricardo Bagnasco has been named as the hotel's director of food and beverage. He comes to the hotel from Freeman Group International in Texas, USA, where he was operations director and consultant.

Charles Noorland has joined Dolce Norton Manor, a conference venue in Hampshire, as executive head chef. Charles was previously at Savannah Restaurants, where he held the same position. Conference venue provider Etc Venues has promoted Mary Fowell to the new role of sales and marketing director. Mary was formerly the company's head of sales and marketing.
