The five-star, 260-bedroom Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh has appointed Philip Garrod executive chef. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Garrod was headhunted from the Westin Miyako hotel in Kyoto, Japan. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has made two new appointments and a promotion. Barbara Pang joins as vice president of sales and marketing. Barbara has previously worked in senior marketing positions in five-star hotels in Hong Kong. The company has also welcomed Melanie Foo-Tiplady as director of global business development. Melanie was the former group marketing manager of the Marco Polo Hotel Group. Brendan Inns has been promoted to the role of vice president of corporate marketing. He spent the last three years as director of corporate marketing. Gary Powell has joined Virgin Hotels as financial and commercial director. Gary has worked with Virgin for the past three years as an investment manager at Virgin Management. ### Pubs and bars Jane McErlain has become general manager of the recently opened Phoenix pub in Stockton Heath, Cheshire. Previously, Jane was manager of the Jongleurs comedy club in Manchester. ### Contract catering Graham Douglas has joined Yes Dining as operations manager for the company's two new contracts at telecommunications firm Gridcom UK in Watford, Hertfordshire, and bookmaker Ladbrokes in west London. Conference centre and resort operator Dolce International has promoted Robert Seals to the role of general manager of the 104-room Dolce Norton Manor in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Robert moves to his new position from the USA, where he was vice president of learning. Also joining the company is Peter Norman as senior vice president of acquisitions and development in Europe. He leaves his role as senior vice president of development of Europe and Africa and the Indian Ocean at hotel group Le Méridien.
