Hotels

Richard Holland has been promoted to the position of associate director - sales, at the five-star, 400-bedroom Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Dyfed. He was previously the hotel's golf sales manager.

Paul Mitchell will join European hotel group CHE in January as finance director. Paul has previously worked at Intercontinental Hotel Group and is a former finance director of Posthouse Hotels. He has held finance positions with Allied Lyons, Forte and Compass.

Contract catering

Sodexho UK has appointed Gary Barr IT director. He leaves motorway services company Welcome Break, where he held the same role.

Jim Burba has been named president of Horwath Hospitality Investment Advisors, a hotel brokerage and advisory firm. Jim, who will assume his position on 1 February, is president of Burba Hotel Network, an industry event organiser. The World Travel & Tourism Council has promoted Richard Miller to the position of executive vice president. Richard was formerly vice president of research and economics. The South African Chefs Association has a new president. Martin Kobald, owner of the Nucleus Conference Centre in Johannesburg, takes up the post, having spent three years on the board, latterly as vice president.
