Police seek help in murder probe

Murder squad detectives investigating the death of a retired school caterer in Bournemouth have issued an appeal to hoteliers to check their guest registers.

Grandmother Beatrice "Chris" Wilson, 74, was found with multiple stab wounds after an intruder broke into her sheltered-housing home on Saturday 22 July.

Deputy Superintendent John Campbell, the officer heading the inquiry, has asked hotel and guesthouse owners on the South Coast to check their records for the days following the killing.

He said: "We are anxious to trace a man calling himself David Johnson, Moore or Morgan, giving a London address, who may have booked in between Sunday 23 July and Tuesday 25 July 2000.

"We are especially keen to find any hotel or guesthouse where staff may have found discarded clothing, trainers or any other property."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 01202 222555 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
