Sales boost for Jamies Bars
Jamies Bars, owner and operator of 17 bars in the City and central London, said like-for-like sales had increased by 4.6% between 31 July last year and the end of May. But it said its three newly-opened bars in Ludgate Hill, Charlotte Street and Smithfield, had not traded as well as expected A trading statement issued by the company read: "The reasons for the slower than anticipated growth within these new sites vary. Each of them has been reviewed and plans developed to attain desired trading volumes." Its new branch at Canary Wharf was said to be performing "extremely well". The company said the board was confident of future performance. It added: "Three of the new units have not traded during the Christmas period, where 20% of annual profit is generated. They will be trading during Christmas 2001, where party enquiries are running well ahead of last year."
