Salon Culinaire takes shape
Entries are now being sought for the 2004 Salon Culinaire International de Londres, which takes place at Hotelympia at ExCel next year.
The schedule of the renowned event has been finalised and includes new classes such as the Major International Football Culinary Challenge, designed for chefs from the UK's football stadia, and the Caribbean Master Chef competition. There will also be a vegan cooking class.
"I try to give everyone in all walks of our industry the opportunity to be involved with the salon," said salon culinaire director Peter Griffiths. "It's a great learning experience."
As before there will be a live theatre, which will be located in the middle of the exhibition, allowing visitors to view it more easily, and a display salon.
"The move to ExCel gives us the opportunity to modernise the look of the features and means we aren't restricted to a certain spot," said Griffiths.
There will also be a La Parade des Chefs competition, where two different teams of chefs will compete each day with the task of creating a three-course meal for 100 covers in two specially built restaurants at the show, in which visitors are invited to dine.
Griffiths said the competition element of the show was a great advert for the industry. "It helps to recruit students and raise the standard among chefs generally," he added.
Closing date for entries is 1 December. To obtain a schedule for all the competitions or an entry form, contact Peter Griffiths on 01564 776842, or e-mail peter.griffiths@freshrm.co.uk.
