Sandefeldt sells up to be nearer home

Swedish chef Christian Sandefeldt has sold his London restaurant Aquarium and moved to another named Jason's in west London.

Sandefeldt launched Aquarium, in St Katharine's Dock, seven years ago. He said his reasons for leaving were twofold: first, he wanted a business nearer to his home in west London, and second, he was fed up with what he called "landlord issues".

Sandefeldt and his wife, Kerstin, took over the running of Jason's, in Blomfield Road, on Tuesday (11 November). The restaurant seats 40 and serves traditional French food.

Fellow Swedish chef, Frederick Bohlin, who previously worked for Sandefeldt at Aquarium, is the head chef.

Sandefeldt said he was in the throes of buying the restaurant from its owner Tony Hopkins. He expects to complete the deal in January.

Jason's is one of two projects Sandefeldt is busy with. He is also preparing for the launch of a seafood restaurant named Deep. Located in Chelsea Harbour, it is expected to open in March. It will have a 70-seat dining room and a 50-seat seafood and sushi bar.
