Search goes on for head chef at Lygon Arms

The Savoy Group's Lygon Arms hotel in Broadway, Worcestershire, is still searching for a head chef six weeks after the last one departed.

Ian Samson resigned as head chef of the 65-bedroom hotel in July after only nine months in the job (Caterer, 30 November 2000, page 71).

Since his departure, Barry Hancox, general manager of the Lygon Arms, has been interviewing candidates.

"It is taking a long time to find the right person. I have interviewed several candidates and we hope to make a decision soon," he said.

Rumours that Gary Rhodes was in discussions with the Lygon Arms were denied by both Hancox and Rhodes himself.

"Gary went for a private weekend with his family and there is no truth in the rumour that he is having business discussions with the Lygon Arms," said his spokeswoman.
