Second edition of Lunch for a fiver from FT
After the success of its Lunch for a Fiver offer in 1993, the Financial Times newspaper has announced plans for a new restaurant promotion.
From 30 January to 10 February, Lunch for a Fiver will be repeated, but price brackets of £7.50 and £10 have been added to attract participation from more expensive restaurants.
In each price band, restaurants must offer a two-course lunch inclusive of VAT and cover charge but excluding drinks or service. To qualify, FT readers must pre-book and take along a copy of the paper.
As well as getting extra business at a traditionally quiet time, participating establishments will be eligible for awards and cash prizes based on customer comment cards.
So far, 125 restaurants have signed up. These include the Café Rouge and Café Flo chains in London, Billesley Manor, near Stratford-upon-Avon, the Box Tree at Ilkley, West Yorkshire, and Gidleigh Park, Chagford, Devon.
- Throughout January, the Savoy Group is repeating its Table Tenners promotion, which offers lunch or early evening dinner at four of its London restaurants for £10.
