Staff to face job cuts after Hanbury review

Thirty-five jobs are to be cut at Hanbury Manor, the five-star hotel and golf complex in Hertfordshire taken over three months ago by Whitbread's Country Club Hotel Group (CCH).

As part of CCH's review of the property, the company has also announced plans to invest £150,000 to improve the building.

The cuts will affect most departments and job levels, ranging from part-timers to supervisors and managers. A spokeswoman said steps were being taken to find those staff involved jobs elsewhere within the group.

Richard McKevitt, the property's executive director, said: "Following our review, it became clear that in order to run the hotel as a commercially viable operation a number of positions would need to be changed."

He said the aim was to run the hotel more profitably, and that standards would not be compromised. Hanbury Manor currently employs 250 staff.
