Ken Ellington has been appointed general manager of the 125-bedroom Swallow hotel in Stockton, Teesside. This is his second position as general manger. He was previously at the Swallow George hotel in Chollerford, Hexham, which he ran for two years.

He has worked with Swallow Hotels for seven years.

Ellington manages 57 contracted and 30 casual staff at the hotel, and will be starting new training courses for staff and overseeing the refurbishment of 26 bedrooms in the spring.

Ellington graduated from the Robert Gordon University of Aberdeen in 1993 with an honours degree in hospitality management. His predecessor, Mark Booth is now general manager of the Marriott Seaburn hotel near Sunderland

The Stockton hotel is part of the division of 13 Swallow hotels owned by Whitbread.
