The Packhorse Inn, Southstoke

Hospitality operators looking for a new venture could clean up with this historic country inn on the outskirts of Bath.

!
The Packhorse Inn, in the picturesque village of Southstoke, just two-and-a-half miles from Bath city centre, is a Grade II-listed building that dates from the 15th century. Built of Bath stone, in its present layout the property boasts a lounge bar with seating for 20, a taproom big enough for a further 20 covers, a catering kitchen, and three-bedroom private accommodation. Outside, there is ample parking and an extensive trade garden seating 110 customers. Curiously, through the middle of the building there is a passage that leads to the church, and in days gone by it was customary for locals to leave some money in their wills to buy a last round of drinks as they passed through it en route to the graveyard. Licensed property agent Bettesworths (01803 212142) is seeking £110,000 for the leasehold interest of the Packhorse Inn, which is held on a 20-year InnSpired lease dating from April 2000.
