Angel joins pier

The Pier hotel at Harwich, part of the Milsom Hotels group, has expanded by buying the Angel pub next door for about £200,000. A £250,000 refurbishment of the Angel will increase the Pier's number of bedrooms from six to 14 and add a drawing room by mid-May.

Oi! more bagels

A second Oi! Bagel restaurant is set to open in April, on the site of a former synagogue in Throgmorton Street, London EC2. Funds have been secured for three more restaurants in and outside London.

Edinburgh venture

Maggie and Andrew Still have bought Northfield House hotel (above) in Edinburgh through agent Christie & Co for close to the £370,000 asking price. The property has four en suite bedrooms,a restaurant, two bars, anda trade garden.

Out of receivership

The 18-bedroom Longforgan Coaching Inn at Longforgan, near Dundee, has been bought out of receivership by local company Glen Coast for about £325,000 through agent Robert Barry & Co. Former owner Andrew Wilson will continue to run the inn.

First-time buyers

Former hotel chef Nigel Shire and his wife Melanie have bought their first hotel, the seven-bedroom Egryn hotel in Abersoch on Wales's Lleyn peninsula. It sold for just under the £195,000 sought by agent Robert Barry.
