Café Terrasse, a wine bar and bistro in Fowey, Cornwall, has been sold to the owners of the nearby Marina hotel. The remainder of the 99-year lease, which started in 1965, was sold for close to £39,950. Café Terrasse has a bar/dining area seating 17 and an outdoor terrace with 12 seats. Christie & Co was the agent.
Bowburn venture
The Prince Bishop's Guest House in Bowburn, County Durham, has changed hands for nearly £135,000, through agent Christie & Co. The guest house has four en suite bedrooms plus owner's accommodation. Former owner David Barker, who has operated the guest house with his wife for 10 years, is moving to a pub. New owner James Richardson is new to the hospitality industry.
Brum deal
Didier Phillipot, former head chef of Brokencote Hall near Kidderminster, Worcestershire, has bought Restaurant Gilmore in Hockley, Birmingham, for close to £115,000. The 36-seat restaurant with bar was previously owned by Paul Gilmore, who ran the restaurant for four years. Christie & Co was the agent.
Historical interest
The Grade II-listed Mortons House hotel in Corfe Castle village, Dorset, has been sold for a sum understood to be about £1.45m, through agent Christie & Co. The hotel is a former Elizabethan Manor House dating from 1590 and has 17 bedrooms. New owners are Andy and Ally Hageman and Ted and Beverly Clayton. The Hagemans are experienced hoteliers and the Claytons are newcomers.
