Cut-price Castle

The 56-bedroom Castle Hotel, Llandudno (above), has been sold for less than the £850,000 asking price by agent Chesterton.

First link in chain

RoadChef Hotels this week opened the first of its planned £24m chain of non-motorway hotels under the Holiday Inn Express franchise. The 103-bedroom, four-storey Holiday Inn Express Stafford South is off junction 13 of the M6 at Acton Gate.

Bargain buy

The 120-cover Thorpe Grange restaurant at Almondbury near Huddersfield has been bought by Ron and Jason Neilson for less than £375,000, the figure sought by Christie & Co.

Bramich's place

Peter Bramich, former manager of the Brighton Metropole, has bought the 36-bedroom Deans Place hotel in Alfriston, Sussex, from the Paragon group. Agent Robert Barry was seeking offers of around £1.25m.

Less Grand price

Hartlepool's 47-bedroom Grand Hotel has been sold by Christie & Co for less than the advertised price of £895,000.

Who Kildares wins

Kildare Lodge hotel, an 11-bedroom, Edwardian, Grade II-listed hotel in Minehead, Somerset, has been sold via agent Kingswood to Dennis and Joan Casey for less than the £395,000 asking price.
