Roker deal brokered

The Roker hotel in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, has been sold to Russell Foster, managing director of Durham Estates, for about £1.65m. Foster's company also owns the Marsden Grotto pub in South Shields and the 11 Tavistock Place restaurant in Sunderland. The 44-bedroom Roker hotel is one of 23 hotels and inns that agent Christie & Co is selling for Scottish & Newcastle.

Utterly new owners

The Butterleigh Inn in Butterleigh, Devon, has been sold to newcomers David and Suzanne Reed for just over £350,000. The 16th-century country inn has been owned and operated by Jenny Hill since 1998 and is listed in The Good Pub Guide. Christie & Co was the agent.

Lanner Coppice sold

The Coppice Inn in the village of Lanner, Cornwall, has been bought by Steven Luxton, who recently sold the Bullers Arms in Chagford, Devon, to Enterprise Inns. The property was sold for about £525,000. Christie & Co was the agent.

A perfect 10

The New Central hotel in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, has been bought by Roncur Oyadare for £140,000. The hotel has 10 bedrooms and a 17-seat restaurant. It is the 10th Manchester hotel that agent Christie & Co has sold this year.

No laughing matter

The Yates Group is to open a new Ha!Ha! bar and restaurant in Bath in December. It is part of a £7.8m redevelopment of a building in the city's Walcot Street. The group already has Ha!Ha! bars in Brighton, Bristol and Oxford.
