VAN TILBURG OPENS CONFERENCE CENTRE

JACQUES van Tilburg, former general manager of the Aztec Hotel in Bristol, has opened a stand-alone conference centre in the city.

The Bristol Conference Centre, which is housed in a replica Georgian building formerly owned by British Telecom, has 15 meeting rooms for up to 50 people. Catering is provided by a local firm.

Mr van Tilburg (right) said he had embarked on the £500,000 project after finding that a lot of conferences at the Aztec were being booked without accommodation. He is anticipating turnover of at least £250,000 in his first year of business.
