Waiter on bail after fourth court hearing

A waiter charged with stealing an oil painting from the restaurant he had worked at for six months has been released from court on unconditional bail.

Paul Batten, 19, a former waiter at the 50-seat Chimneys restaurant in Sudbury, Suffolk, appeared before Sudbury Magistrates for a fourth time on 3 November.

Batten, of Station Road, Sudbury, is charged with burglary and theft and attempting to sell the still life painting, valued at £3,500. The case was adjourned until 17 November for the preparation of committal papers.
