In the bag Cirio Foodservice has officially launched its range of ambient tomato based products in the UK with new packaging specially created for the sector.

The Cirio products are: Chopped Tomatoes, Tomato Paste, Tomato Passata, Pizza Sauce Original and Pizza Sauce Spicy. Recipe ideas are available.

The products are packed in foil bags, which eradicate the problems associated with metal cans or sharp edges and can openers.

The new 3kg bags are hygienic, lightweight and easy to pour. They can sit on the shelf until they are opened and then they need to be refrigerated once opened.
Cirio Foodservice

Made for meat and poultry Brakes offers a range of sauces designed to enhance its range of meat and poultry:

Pepper Sauce is a rich, light brown sauce containing dairy cream, egg, cracked black peppercorns and whole green peppercorns. Laced with brandy, this sauce is ideal with meat, especially steaks. Chasseur Sauce is a rich, tomato based sauce with sliced mushrooms and red wine. It is best served with steaks, game or venison.

Bearnaise Sauce is a classic French style sauce. Rich, creamy and egg-based, this sauce is seasoned and flavoured with tarragon. It is suitable served with fish or poultry. Diane Sauce is a rich, light brown creamy sauce containing mushrooms, onions, brandy and seasoning.

Each sauce is in individual 75g sauce portions in a clear pouch. Simply cook from frozen or thaw in boiling water for approximately seven minutes.

The Pepper and Chasseur sauces cost £13 for a pack of 24 (54p each) and the Bearnaise and Diane Sauce cost £15.75 for a pack of 24 (66p each).

A helping hand in a busy kitchen Pat Van Holt, a former Michelin star chef and head chef of The Caversham Heath Golf Club in Reading, Berkshire, finds that by using the Knorr Garde d'Or range of sauces, dishes can be prepared, cooked and served to order within 15 minutes.

Pat uses the Knorr Garde d'Or Cheese, White Wine and Demi Glace Sauces as bases to create a range of traditional dishes.

One of his specialities is Oceanic Chicken, stuffed with smoked salmon and prawns, and served with Knorr Garde d'Or White Wine Sauce.

He says: "The great thing about this sauce is that it adds flavour without overpowering the flavour of the food."

Stir up a taste of Italy Masterfoods has also added two new culinary sauces to its Dolmio Italian range: Arrabbiata - a rich, chunky tomato sauce with garlic, sweet peppers and spicy chilli and Creamy Tomato and Pesto, a mild creamy tomato sauce, flecked with basil and flavoured with parmesan, quality olive oil and herbs.

They are cook/chill and freeze/thaw stable and will hold for two hours. They are packaged in resealable PET jars.
