Where does DBC stand?

DBC Foodservice took the decision to eliminate GM foods from its range of ‘d' brand products.

Will Richards, marketing manager, said: "The public perception of GM ingredients has become increasingly negative recently and it's important that major manufacturers address this issue head on. We have discussed with our suppliers exactly where GM ingredients may have been used and have been working with them to source alternatives."

DBC Foodservice says there are no GM ingredients in over 90 per cent of ‘d' Brand products. "For the remaining ten per cent, the likelihood of their containing GM ingredients is extremely low and is limited to minor materials such as colourings and flavourings that do not require labelling under current legislation.

"However, we have in place a time-table that will mean by mid-summer, even those products will be totally clear of any trace of GM ingredients."

A comprehensive database of branded products has been created to give guidance as to whether any product it supplies contains GM ingredients.
