Whitbread plans huge Travel Innat Heathrow

Whitbread is planning to develop the biggest budget hotel in the UK.

The 614-bedroom Travel Inn at London's Heathrow airport will also be the third biggest in Europe

The group, which has 258 Travel Inns nationwide, with a total of 13,500 bedrooms, is in the process of obtaining planning permission for the £39m project.

It hopes to open the hotel in 2002. It will create 200 jobs.

A Whitbread spokesman said: "It has been extremely important for us to get this location.

"The occupancy at our London Travel Inns is well into the nineties and we would expect the occupancy at the new hotel to mirror that."
