Knut Wylde appointed GM of the Berkeley hotel
The five-red-AA-star, 210-bedroom Berkeley hotel, London, has announced the appointment of Knut Wylde as general manager.
Wylde replaces Justin Pinchbeck who is leaving the property to take up the role of chief operating officer of Beaverbrook, a new luxury country house hotel and golf resort, near Leatherhead, Surrey.
Currently hotel manager at sister property, Claridge's in Mayfair, where he joined in March 2014, Wylde was previously director of operations at Coworth Park in Ascot. He earlier worked in London at the Savoy, St Pancreas Renaissance, 45 Park Lane and the Lanesborough.
German-born Wylde started his career at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg more than 20 years ago. His international experience includes stints with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and the Caribbean, as well as at the One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives.
Wylde said he was "immensely proud" to join the Berkeley and was looking forward "to working with the team to ensure we maintain our position as one of the capital's leading properties famous for our exceptional levels of guest service and spirit of innovation."
The Berkeley hotel is part of the Maybourne Hotel Group, which also owns Claridge's and the Connaught. It features the two Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus from Marcus Wareing, Pierre Koffmann's French Brasserie, the Blue Bar and rooftop spa with swimming pool.
