Forbes Travel Guide 2016 announces two new UK five-star hotels
London's Goring hotel (pictured) and Coworth Park in Ascot have been awarded five stars for the first time in the new Forbes Travel Guide 2016, published this week.
The US-based guide now features a total of 154 five-star-rated hotels across 29 countries, including nine in the UK.
Coworth Park is the first hotel outside London to receive five stars. The other eight five-star-hotels in the UK are all in London. They include the Dorchester, 45 Park Lane, Claridge's, Four Seasons London at Park Lane, the Connaught, the Lanesborough, and the Savoy, as well as the Goring. There are now 28 hotels in the UK with four stars out of a global list of 410.
Worldwide, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts is the guide's strongest performer, with 26 of the 42 five-star hotels.
Gerard Inzerillo, chief executive of Forbes Travel Guide, described the rated hotels as having "an unimpeachable standard of excellence in hospitality at a moment when the proliferation of voices claiming to provide unbiased ratings online is exploding".
Forbes, formerly known as the Mobil Travel Guide, was launched in the UK in 2013.
