Grand Union sells three venues to Young’s

London bar and restaurant group Grand Union has announced the decision to sell three of its venues in Brixton, Camberwell (pictured) and Wandsworth to pub company Young’s.

The Grove in Camberwell and the Hope & Anchor in Brixton have been sold back to Young’s, while the group’s former Wandsworth site is now called the Kings Arms and has joined Young’s Geronimo Inns portfolio.

A statement on the Grand Union website read: “We would like to thank our beautiful, happy and loyal customers for their support over the years.”

The group confirmed its five Grand Union sites in Camden, Chancery Lane, Farringdon, Kennington and Paddington are still trading as normal. It opened a new partnership concept bar and restaurant, Trade Union, in Wapping in June last year, which also houses an artisan coffee house, florist and barber shop.

Grand Union, backed by former PizzaExpress chairman Luke Johnson, posted a 21% increase in profits as it celebrated its 10th anniversary last year.
