Mantis Group takes over management of Devonshire Club and appoints new GM

London private members’ club Devonshire Club has appointed a new general manager after Mantis Group was awarded a contract to manage the business.

Steven Cowie, who has worked as a general manager for InterContinental Hotel Group for the past eight years, joined Devonshire Club last month.

As part of Mantis’ management contract, Devonshire Club now joins the Mantis Collection of privately owned, five-star properties comprising boutique hotels, game reserves, eco lodges, chalets and yachts.

Cowie said: “I’m incredibly excited to be able to announce my new position within Devonshire Club.

“It’s a beautiful members club and hotel, and like Mantis, I am similar in ethos with the Club.

“Having observed the developments over the past year, such as the opening of new restaurant Number Five, headed by chef, Adam Gray, I really look forward to being part of Devonshire Club’s future.”

In addition to the Number Five restaurant and several bars, Devonshire Club has 68 bedrooms, events spaces, and intimate walled gardens.

Non-members can enjoy the club either as a hotel guest or can access the building from Friday evening to Sunday inclusive.

Among the other venues in the Mantis Collection in the UK are the Draycott Hotel in London’s Cadogan Gardens, the Lord Milner in Belgravia, London, and the Alladale Wilderness Reserve in Ardgay, Scotland.
