London's Adria hotel first UK hotel to join Swiss Bürgenstock Collection

The Adria hotel in London's South Kensington has become the first member of the luxury Bürgenstock Collection outside of Switzerland.

The hotel is the collection's fourth property, joining the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa, and the Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa Lausanne.

The Adria, an 1870s townhouse and former home, was acquired by the Bürgenstock Collection's Qatar-based parent company Katara Hospitality in 2021. The 24-bedroom property underwent a £1m restoration led by hospitality interior design consultant Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) before opening in January 2022.

Stefan Leser, executive director of the Bürgenstock Collection, said: "The addition of the Adria to the Bürgenstock Collection is an exciting step for the group, in welcoming our first property outside of Switzerland. The Adria embodies all the qualities we strive for in a hotel, with the utmost in service, style and a prestigious heritage. It will be a pleasure to work with the team in London to continue develop the Adria's respected reputation both within the city and internationally."

Gary Redmond, general manager at the Adria, added: "Joining the esteemed team at the Bürgenstock Collection is an exciting prospect for the hotel. To be aligned with some of the most recognised properties within Europe and being able to learn from their expertise is exciting for the whole team at the Adria."
