BaxterStorey enters contract with London Metropolitan University

BaxterStorey has secured a one-year catering partnership with London Metropolitan University for an undisclosed sum.

It will see the contract caterer providing nutritious and sustainable menus across the university's Aldgate and Hollway campuses.

BaxterStorey will also be responsible for delivering a new hospitality service to accelerate the promotion of London Metropolitan University's large scale commercial event venue, as well as transforming the Highbury Canteen into a food market style space.

Students and staff will have access to a specially created carbon neutral wine list, featuring Toast ale made from surplus bread. Suppliers of BaxterStorey include the social enterprise brand Nemi teas and regeneratively grown WildFarmed pasta.

BaxterStorey has activated its 17-strong onsite team to launch the integration process ahead of the opening of all outlets from 11 September, the start of the new academic year.

The foodservice company's head of wellness and nutrition, Andy Aston, will also support the creation of a campus wellness programme with London Metropolitan University's events and hospitality services manager Daniel Caleb.

Sarah Miller, managing director at BaxterStorey, said: "We are delighted to be developing a partnership with London Metropolitan University. They have a long-standing culture of enhancing the student experience through sustainable initiatives, people development and a strong community focus – these values are all absolutely in tune with ours."

Elizabeth McGowan, head of events, hospitality and business services from London Metropolitan University, added: "It's an exciting time to be announcing this new catering partnership. London Met is undergoing rapid positive transformation across the board – our student-centric investment approach means we have chosen to team up with BaxterStorey to deliver high quality, sustainable meals and services across all our campuses."

The contract with London Metropolitan University includes an option to extend for a year.

BaxterStorey operates across 800 locations in the UK, Ireland and Europe and is owned by parent company WSH.
