BaxterStorey wins nine-year contract extension with Birmingham City University

BaxterStorey has secured a nine-year contract extension with Birmingham City University (BCU) worth £40m.

The contract caterer will continue to offer on-campus catering services, as well as delivering measures to cut food waste and reduce food miles to meet BCU's 2030 net-zero initiatives.

BaxterStorey first entered the contract with BCU in 2015 and has since been feeding 30,000 students and staff.

Under the renewed contract, the foodservice provider has elevated its offering at the BCU's Curzon building, which now includes Rahina's Food Fusion led by apprentice commis chef Rahina, who specialises in Indian and Pakistani cuisine.

It will also be home to a Student Saver area, which will serve hot grab-and-go items, and a theatre bar called the Assembly, which will offer Korean barbecue bao buns and Wildfarmed pizzas.

Peter Kent, regional managing director of BaxterStorey, said: "We know that there is a taste for revolution, and our revamped offering will introduce game-changers to create a new era of dining experience at BCU. Our goal is to promote sustainability and community engagement while ensuring that everyone enjoys delicious and healthy meals."

Jane Grimmett of Birmingham City University added: "We look forward to working closely with BaxterStorey to provide our students and staff with exceptional dining experiences that support our vibrant and diverse campus community – from the food to the dynamic and unique visual surroundings."
