Cameron House to close flagship restaurant

Cameron House in Loch Lomond has confirmed it has made the "difficult decision" to close its flagship restaurant at the end of this month.

Tamburrini & Wishart is the hotel's fine dining restaurant, which offers a fortnightly changing five-course tasting menu.

Michael Lavizani, who was appointed resort director of Cameron House in June, said: "We can confirm that team members at Tamburrini & Wishart are undergoing consultation currently and we have also made the difficult decision to close the restaurant on 31 October.

"The culinary offering and wider strategy at the restaurants across the hotel, spa and golf club are under review and further comment will be provided at the end of the process."

Unite Hospitality tweeted on 17 October that the closure occurred before staff had been informed their jobs were at risk, but Cameron House denied this was the case.

Bryan Simpson, Unite's lead organiser for the hospitality sector, criticised the treatment of staff and accused the hotel of failing to consider "reasonable alternatives" to staff redundancy.

"We had assumed that the new resort director would act differently to improve industrial relations and the reputation of the resort when it comes to workers' rights, but evidently not," said Simpson.

A spokeperson for the hotel said: "Following the consultation process and decision to close Tamburrini & Wishart, we can confirm that all required timelines and process for the closure have been followed. All team members were made aware of the potential for closure ahead of any final decision and the outcome being announced."

Cameron House also operates the Cameron Grill, the Boat House, the Clubhouse at Cameron, and the Tavern.
