Fire closes Falmouth restaurant during Pride festivities

Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at a Falmouth restaurant on Saturday.

The blaze closed the venue on the weekend of the town's Pride festival. The owner of The Ranch on the waterfront told Cornwall Live he was "distraught" to have had to close on such a busy weekend, and anticipated the venue would be shut for a week.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it received "a large volume of calls" about the incident and found a fire in the kitchen on arrival. Pictures from the scene showed black smoke rising from the venue.

Crews used breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, which had spread to a neighbouring property. Paramedics and police also attended the scene. The owner of the site told Cornwall Live everyone was safe.
