First Look: Cocochine to open later this month

Cocochine is finally set to open in London's Mayfair on 25 March following almost two years of delays.

Hamiltons Gallery owner Tim Jefferies and chef Larry Jayasekara had unveiled plans to open the restaurant in 2022 in a former mews house at 27 Bruton Square, set over four floors.

The restaurant will offer a series of a la carte dishes inspired by Jayasekara's travels, showcasing produce from regenerative mixed farmland the Rowler Estate in Northamptonshire.

The ground floor features a warmly-lit 28-cover dining room that leads the way to a tiled staircase with leather-clad handrails.

The first floor has been adorned with a specially commissioned mosaic featuring an intricate pattern of reds, blacks and whites, which was inspired by a former exhibition at Hamiltons Gallery by Guido Mocafico.

Pre-dinner drinks and canapés are served around a seven-guest chef's counter with views into the heart of the building and the kitchen, which can also be hired out for private occasions.

The wine cellar is located in the basement of the building and hosts a selection of old and new world wines.

Jayasekara said: "Growing up in a village in Sri Lanka, you understand from an early age how much time and commitment goes into farming great ingredients. As chefs, we have access to some of the finest produce in the world, and I want to support those systems both here and overseas and celebrate them in every menu."
