New leadership team at HCPTA

The Hotel & Catering Personnel & Training Association, a networking group for human resources professionals in hospitality, has a new leadership team.

Taking over the position of chairman is Carl Smith, currently the training and talent manager at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Having previously worked with the Rezidor SAS and Le Meridien Hotels in the roles of Training & Development, Smith has spent more than 22 years in the industry and is "thrilled to have been elected and to be working with such a strong, capable and motivated committee".

He takes over from previous chairperson Judith Owen, who chaired the association for the past four years.

Also joining the ranks is Jane Sunley, who will be taking the role of president. Founder of talent retention business Learnpurple, Sunley is also a member of The Talent Foundation and has been a long-standing member of the HCPTA.

"I am honoured and proud to return to the HCPTA through this presidency", she commented. "I'm very much looking forward to supporting a very talented team towards making a real difference to UK HR in hospitality".

Basil Blanco, previously with Compass Group's Restaurant Associates and now a director at recruiter Blanco Goldfarb, becomes vice-chairman.
