Galvin at Windows to close after 18 years

Chris and Jeff Galvin have announced their Galvin at Windows restaurant will close at the end of April after 18 years of trading.

The chef brothers opened the sky-high dining room on the 28th floor of the Hilton London on Park Lane hotel in 2006.

Although the pair did not confirm the reason for the closure, an Instagram post from the hotel said the restaurant was shutting its doors as part of the ongoing multimillion-pound renovation of the building.

Writing on Instagram, the Galvins said: "We've cherished every moment of our highly successful 18 years on Park Lane from being awarded our Michelin Star to the ongoing success of both the restaurant and our award-winning team. The memories we've created will remain close to our hearts forever.

"To all who have joined us at Galvin at Windows over the years, we sincerely thank you and we very much look forward to welcoming you to our Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle, Bistrot & Bar, and our award-winning countryside pub and restaurant, Galvin Green Man, where more exciting culinary adventures await."

When Galvin at Windows opened in 2006 it featured a 106-cover dining room and a 98-cover bar, which cost roughly £2m.

The restaurant won a Michelin star in 2010 but lost the award in 2019. However, it was still recommended in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2024.

Fred Sirieix was general manager of the restaurant for 14 years and stepped down from the role in 2019.

Galvin at Windows was the second opening from the brothers, who had opened Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on London's Baker Street in 2005.

Chris and Jeff added: "As we bid farewell to Galvin at Windows, we're excited for the future and the upcoming plans for our existing venues in London and Essex, which have recently enjoyed a fantastic refurbishment.

"Our commitment to you as an independent family-run business remains with the same drive and ambition and we will continue to share our special hospitality with you for years to come."

The service at Galvin at Windows will be on 25 April.
