£2m-plus sought for hotel in Cornish Riviera

A sea-front hotel on the Cornish Riviera has been put on the market for in excess of £2m.

The three-star Hotel Riviera has a prominent location just off the approach road to the town of Newquay, a tourist Mecca for its beaches and surfing.

The building, which dates back to around 1900, first became a hotel in 1930, and has had several extensions added in recent years.

It now enjoys year-round business, with substantial revenues from weddings, functions and dinner dances.

Amenities include 48 en-suite bedrooms, the 200-seat Ocean restaurant, a lounge with a feature fireplace, a lounge bar, and a ballroom with two bar serveries and a dance floor.

Extensive function and conference facilities across seven suites (including the restaurant and ballroom) can accommodate a total of 200 delegates.

The landscaped gardens command views over the sea and leisure facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, a squash court and a sauna.

The sale is being handled through the Exeter office of Christie + Co.
