Andrew Mackay appointed GM at the Devonshire Arms
Andrew Mackay has returned to his Yorkshire roots to take up the role of general manager at the four-red-AA-star Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel & Spa in Bolton Abbey.
Mackay, who has more than 18 years experience of working in the luxury hospitality sector, was previously general manager at the Samling in Windermere, recently bought by a private investor from the administrators of Von Essen Hotels. He started his career at the Bath Spa in Somerset, and has held general manager positions at Linthwaite House hotel in Windermere and the Greenway in Cheltenham.
Mackay said he is overjoyed at the opportunity to work at the Devonshire Arms. "My main aim is to build on the many wonderful things that the hotel has already achieved, and I look forward to seeing some of my own ideas come into fruition as the business continues to develop," he said.
Owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the 40-bedroom Devonshire Arms, which is located on the 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, boats a Michelin star under executive chef Steve Smith.
"We are delighted to welcome Andrew Mackay to Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants," said the Duke of Devonshire. "He has a wealth of experience in some of the country's top red star hotels, and I know that he will thrive in his new role."
