Cavendish first to get green award
The 230-bedroom Cavendish hotel has become the first London hotel to be awarded a gold award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Key sustainable measures at the hotel's Petrichor restaurant that helped the hotel achieve the award included 100% target of sourcing British ingredients, the composting of all food waste, 80% less packaging on all deliveries of fruit and vegetables and using the rind from fresh orange juice to make marmalade.
Eleven other London hotels that have since gone on to receive the gold award include the May Fair, the Zetter and Base2Stay.
