Four UK hotels make the Condé Nast Traveller's Hot List 2006

Four UK hotels have made the exclusive Condé Nast Traveller's Hot List 2006.

In total 60 properties from around the world were singled out for praise by the luxury travel publisher in its annual round-up.

Rocco Forte's recently refurbished Brown's hotel in London's Mayfair hosted the event last night (3 April) and made it onto the list.

Other UK finalists included the Hotel Endsleigh in Tavistock, Devon, the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester and Malmaison Oxford, which is a converted prison.

Malmaison's operations director Nick Gamble, said: "Obviously we are absolutely delighted to be ranked by Condé Nast. We set out to convert a Victorian prison into a lifestyle hotel despite the initial challenges of making that environment work. This listing is recognition of all the hard work of the team since opening last November."
