Green light for 50-bedroom hotel in Southwark

A 50-bedroom hotel is to be developed on Borough High Street in Southwark, south London.

Southwark Council has given the go-ahead for the "bold and contemporary" seven-storey hotel to be built on the site of an existing commercial building, which is to be demolished.

A restaurant or café will be located on the ground floor of the property, which will be built in predominately grey bricks. There will also be a basement and roof terrace.

Located within the Borough High Street Conservation Area, the hotel will adjoin a Grade II-listed building

The application was made by Jeff Shapiro of Raykor and the architect will be Squire & Partners.
