Hoxton hotel appoints new general manager as brand prepares for expansion
The design-led Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch, London, has appointed Timothy Griffin, as general manager, as the design-led budget brand sets to expand to seven hotels in London.
Griffin, was previously director of operations at the 208-bedroom hotel, which was bought last year by Sharan Pasricha of private equity group Ennismore Capital.
Prior to arriving at the Hoxton in 2011, Griffin worked at the Lancaster London as executive house manager and then food and beverage manager.
He has also spent time in the United States at the Hilton Short Hills hotel in New Jersey as director of front office operations and at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City in a number of different roles including assistant director of front office operations, director of group services and assistant executive housekeeper.
Building work will start soon on converting a former BT office in Holborn - between Covent Garden and the City of London - to a second Hoxton hotel. The 175-bedroom property is expected to open in December 2013.
The company is now looking to appoint a general manager for the new hotel, as well as take on a brand director of the expanding group. It believed that Pasricha is currently negotiating to acquire a further five sites in the capital, four of which will involve converted buildings and one-new build hotel.
The brand director would not necessarily require a traditional hotel background, but rather be "an off-piste individual" with experience of the creative industries.
Beyond London, the Hoxton brand is also expected to be launched in Amsterdam and New York.
