Ireland's Great National Hotels expands in to the UK
Great National Hotels](http://www.greatnationalhotels.com/), a new group from Ireland, has secured its first UK business by signing up four hotels in the Midlands.
The company, which already operates five properties in Ireland, is to manage the reservations and online marketing for the four-star Ramada Park Hall Hotel and Spa, Wolverhampton, and three three-star hotels: the Ramada Birmingham-Oldbury, Warley; the Ramada Warwick, Kenilworth; and the Ramada Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Staffordshire.
Great National Hotels was launched in February 2010 to provide on- and off-line marketing services and centralised reservations support to independent hotels. It intends to have a total of 20 hotels within its portfolio by the end of the year, nine of which are expected to be within the UK.
"We are talking to a number of independent hotels which can benefit from our group structure, the depth of our management skills and the economies of scale that we can provide," said marketing and branding director, David Collins.
"Our aim is to help reduce costs for hotels and increase their business. One of our hotels in Ireland - the Abbey Court, near Tipperary - has seen a 98% increase in direct online business since joining us in March 2010."
Each member hotel can choose whether or not they take on the Great National Hotels branding. The hotels in the Midlands will retain their Ramada branding.
