Malmaison and Hotel du Vin to add four hotels

The owner of the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin hotel brands is believed to be on the verge of acquiring four regional properties, including two Chapter hotels.

The Times.

Ironically, Swire Properties created the boutique Chapter brand in 2011 to rival Hotel du Vin.

Guus Baker, chief executive of Fraser Hospitality UK, told The Caterer in September that the group intended to expand the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin brands with the acquisition of a small portfolio of properties which would help grow the two brands to its target of 50 hotels.

There are currently 29 hotels across the two brands - 16 Hotel du Vins and 13 Malmaisons, with two more Hotel du Vin properties due to open in Stratford-upon-Avon and Aberdeen.
